Course Overview

The Supporting Cisco TelePresence System Devices (TPTECH) training course focuses on the skills required for onsite support and maintenance of Cisco TelePresence Systems. Technicians in this area must be able to identify Cisco TelePresence models, accessories, cabling, and interfaces; understand the Cisco TelePresence operating modes and identify commonly found software; and be able to use the Cisco Command Line Interface (CLI) to connect and service products and make basic Cisco TelePresence system adjustments.

This is a 5- to 6-hour, on-demand training course that is designed for field support engineers working with Cisco TelePresence system devices and operating software. Purchase covers a one-year subscription period for a single user and provides access to the most current information on Cisco products. The course is divided into short modules and uses text, audio narration, graphical images, drawings, and video to illustrate the proper procedures for diagnosing and resolving common issues–to improve the effectiveness of field support engineers and speed time-to-resolution.

Please note that in order to achieve the CCT TelePresence certification candidates are first required to attain the CCT Routing & Switching certification.

Target Audience

Cisco field support technicians and other support engineers should consider taking this course. By achieving CCT certification candidates are able to demonstrate that they have the requisite skills and knowledge to successfully perform onsite support and maintenance of Cisco networking devices and work effectively with the Cisco Technical Assistance Centre.

Course Objectives

On successfully completing the TPTECH course candidates will be able to:
  • Review networking fundamentals, including VoIP, Cisco Unified Call Manager, IP phones, and video components
  • Identify Cisco TelePresence models, accessories, cabling, and interfaces
  • Understand Cisco TelePresence operating modes and identify commonly found software
  • Demonstrate effective field servicing and equipment replacement, including hot swap, with the support of the Cisco Technical Assistance Centrr

Course Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for candidates to paricipate in the TPTECH Cisco training course however candidates are required to pass and complete RSTECH exam 640-692 before prior to attempting this course.

Testing and Certification

The TPTECH Cisco training course is the recommended preparation for the 640-792 TPTECH exam required to achieve the Cisco Certified Technician (CCT) TelePresence Certification.

  • Identifying Cisco TelePresence 500 hardware components
  • Identifying Cisco TelePresence 3010/3210 cabling
  • Identifying Cisco TelePresence 1100/1300 cabling
  • Identifying Cisco TelePresence 1000 cabling

  • Identify Cisco products by logo marking and model number (including, but not limited to, locations on chassis, line card, module, or adapter)
  • Identify and locate the serial number and Codec MAC address of Cisco products (including, but not limited to, locations on chassis, line card, module, or adapter)
Service-related Knowledge:
  • USE SSH for CLI connection
  • Use HTTP/HTTPS for the web interface connection
  • Configure networks settings for Ethernet port on laptop (IP address, subnet mask and default gateway) and establish a connection with Ethernet ports on Cisco equipment
  • Make a physical connection from laptop to primary codec device port (secondary camera port)
  • Configure IP phone
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on hardware problems and common configuration errors
  • Perform remedial procedures on TelePresence
  • Safety, warning, and pre-caution
  • Perform password recovery on a primary codec
  • Verify basic IP phone functionality is operational
  • Factory reset for different IP Phones
  • Use the hardware tools needed for repair
