Course Overview

The Implementing Cisco Advanced Storage Networking Solutions v4.2 (IASNS) Cisco training course has been designed to provide candidates with advanced skills in implementing and troubleshooting Cisco storage networks. IASNS covers advanced storage networking topics for the Cisco Multilayer Director Switch (MDS) family which includes: building virtual SAN fabrics, building heterogeneous SAN fabrics, configuring management and security services, configuring Internet Small Computer Systems Interface (iSCSI) and advanced troubleshooting skills. A significant portion of the course is also devoted to labs and troubleshooting.

Please note: This course is based on NX-OS 4.2 and 5.0.

Target Audience

Candidates who should consider attending the IASNS 642-359 Cisco training course include field and systems engineers involved in the deployment and operation of a Cisco SAN solution and channel partners who are looking to achieve their Data Centre accreditation.

Course Objectives

On successfully completing the IASNS 642-359 course you will be able to:
  • Implement a SAN with multiple virtual fabrics using the full range of features and capabilities provided by the Cisco MDS platform, so that the SAN demonstrates high availability, scalability, performance, and interoperability.
  • Configure and use fabric management, performance management, and security services on the Cisco MDS platform so that the SAN can be effectively managed, tuned, and secured
  • Diagnose and correct software configuration issues and inoperable hardware components, so that the problems are resolved with minimal disruption to the SAN environment
  • Identify and configure the appropriate iSCSI features to meet customer requirements

Course Prerequisites

Candidates attending the IASNS 642-359 Cisco training course are required to have previously attended the ICSNS course and are also recommended to hold a valid CCNA certification by completing either ICND1 and ICND2 or CCNABC.

Testing and Certification

The IASNS Cisco training course is the recommended preparation for the 642-359 ICSNS - Implementing Cisco Storage Network Solutions exam. This exam is required for candidates looking to achieve the Cisco Data Centre Storage Networking Support Specialist certification and Implementing Cisco Storage Networking Solutions (ICSNS) is recommended for further study. Please also note that the 642-359 ICSNS exam includes topics from both the ICSNS and IASNS course curriculum and it is highly recommended that candidates take both courses before attempting the exam.
