Course Title: Implementing Cisco Storage Networking Solutions v4.0

Course Code: ICSNS 642-359
Duration: 5 Days

Course Overview

The Implementing Cisco Storage Networking Solutions v4.0 (ICSNS) training course has been designed for systems and field engineers who implement storage networking solutions with the Cisco MDS 9000 platform. ICSNS covers the key concepts and procedures which are required to be able to install, configure and manage the MDS 9000 platform. This course also covers how to improve the availability, scalability, performance and manageability of the SAN. Please note that this course is based on NX-OS 4.2 and 5.0.

Target Audience

Candidates who should consider attending the ICSNS 642-359 Cisco training course are Field and System Engineers who deploy and operate a Cisco SAN solution.

Course Objectives

On successfully completing the ICSNS 642-359 course you will be able to:
  • Identify the components, services, and features of the MDS 9000 platform that can be used to improve the availability, scalability, performance, and manageability of the SAN
  • Describe how to safely install the switch hardware and perform the initial software configuration process
  • Explain how to implement the logical topology that is specified by a SAN design, so that connectivity between end devices can be verified and traffic management features applied
  • Describe how to use FCIP to implement appropriate solutions for SAN extension
  • Use Cisco MDS 9000 Series Switch diagnostic tools to diagnose SAN problems and common configuration errors

Course Prerequisites

Candidates attending the ICSNS 642-359 Cisco training course should have a basic understanding of data storage hardware components and protocols, including Small Computer Systems Interface (SCSI), Fibre Channel and IP networking concepts. Candidates are also recommended to have previously attended ICND1 and ICND2 or CCNABC.

Testing and Certification

The ICSNS Cisco training course is the recommended preparation for the 642-359 ICSNS - Implementing Cisco Storage Network Solutions exam.

This exam is required for candidates looking to achieve the Cisco Data Centre Storage Networking Support Specialist and Implementing Cisco Advanced Storage Network (IASNS) is recommended for further study. Please also note that the 642-359 ICSNS exam includes topics from both the ICSNS and IASNS course curriculum and it is highly recommended that candidates take both courses before attempting the exam.
