Course Title: Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Implementation

Course Code: DCUCI 642-994
Duration: 5 Days

Course Overview

The Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Implementation (DCUCI) training course has been designed to cover the deployment and operation of a Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS). Candidates are taught how to configure and manage Cisco UCS servers with consolidated I/O networking for LAN and SAN connectivity and will learn how to virtualize server properties to enable simple and rapid mobility of server operating system images between physical servers. The inclusion of hands-on practical labs enable students to gain experience in configuring fault tolerance, implementing a multi-tenant management model, backing up and restoring system configurations as well as how to make the most of the monitoring and troubleshooting tools built into Cisco UCS Manager.

Target Audience

Candidates who should consider attending the DCUCI 642-994 Cisco training course include experienced Cisco Server Administrators, Network and/or Systems Engineers who are involved in the deployment of Cisco Unified Computing System Solutions. DCUCI is also one of the requirements for Channel Partners looking for accreditation for the Cisco UCS ATP Program.

Course Objectives

On successfully completing the DCUCI 642-994 course you will be able to:
  • Explain how Cisco UCS addresses key problems in Data Centre server environments
  • Describe the Cisco UCS system architecture
  • Identify UCS hardware components and options
  • Perform the key operational tasks required to deploy a Cisco Unified Computing System
  • Explain the connectivity requirements for the Cisco UCS platform
  • Configure Physical and logical Unified Fabric Connectivity
  • Describe the Cisco UCS Manager
  • Define and implement the Basic Opt-In and Logical Server Management Models
  • Configure a system-level fault tolerance
  • Implement a multi-tenant management model using Role-Based Access Control
  • Perform System upgrades
  • Backup and Restore system configurations
  • Monitor system events and use the built in troubleshooting tools
  • Identify common deployment scenarios for Cisco UCS
  • Explain how the Cisco Nexus 1000V switch fits in to a VMware server virtualization environment

Course Prerequisites

Candidates attending the The CWLAT Cisco training course is the recommended 642-994 Cisco training course should have previously attended and passed ICND1 and ICND2 or CCNABC. Candidates should also have practical experience with Cisco Nexus switches (DCNI-2 is recommended) and be familiar with SAN concepts and Cisco MDS 9000 switches (ICSNS and IASNS are recommended). Candidates are also require to have achieved VMware Certified Professional certification (VCP 3 or 4) - (VSICM or VSFT recommended).

Testing and Certification

The DCUCI Cisco training course is the recommended preparation for the 642-983 DCUCI - Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Implementation exam and is required for candidates who wish to achieve the Cisco Data Center Unified Support Specialist Certification.
