Course Prerequisites

Candidates attending the M2597 Microsoft training course should have previously attended and completed courses: M2596 Managing Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 and M2279 Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure.

Candidates should also have a strong working knowledge of:

• IP addressing (covered in M2151 - Microsoft Windows 2000 Network and Operating System Essentials)
• Windows 2003 core technologies (covered in M2273 - Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment)
• Windows 2003 networking technologies and implementation (covered in M2277 - Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Services)
• Windows 2003 directory services technologies and implementation (covered in M2279 - Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure)

Module 1: Preparing for Systems Management Server 2003

In this module candidates will learn how to describe a business case for installing Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 in an organisation. In order to create this business case, candidates will learn the steps involved in the SMS planning and deployment process. Candidates will also begin by analysing their current environments before planning the deployment.
