Course Title: Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Quality of

Service

Course Code: MSPQS 642-785
Duration: 3 Days

Course Overview

The Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Quality of Service (MSPQS) instructor led training course has been designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and skills required to provide support in a service-provider environment using quality-of-service (QoS) mechanisms. The MSPQS course focuses on the QoS mechanisms, such as how they are implemented using Cisco IOS and IOS XR Software, and how to perform monitoring and troubleshooting of QoS in service provider environments.

Target Audience

Candidates who should consider attending the MSPQS 642-785 Cisco training course include Tier 2 and 3 Support Personnel, Service provider network operations centre (NOC) personnel, engineers and service provider partners.

Course Objectives

On successfully completing the MSPQS 642-785 course candidates will be able to:
  • Identify the typical QoS requirements in service provider networks, list the solutions, and describe the change, performance and fault management procedures for QoS
  • Perform changes in the configuration of QoS based on designs and implementation templates as well as ITIL based change management processes and procedures
  • Gather and interpret performance statistics for QoS mechanisms using various tools such as show commands and SNMP-based monitoring tools and propose changes and improvements that are based on the acquired information
  • Perform fault management for QoS mechanisms using tools such as show commands and SNMP-based monitoring tools

Course Prerequisites

Candidates attending the MSPQS 642-785 Cisco training course should have previously attended and completed courses ICND1, SSPO and OFCN. Candidates should also understand and be able to identify the critical factors for availability, scalability and manageability of OSPF, IS-IS and BGP. Self-study training in these areas may be found on the Cisco Learning Network website or alternatively it is recommended that candidates attend a BCN course and prior attendance of MSPRP is also recommended.
Finally, candidates should be able to implement Cisco IOS Software and Cisco IOS XR Software configuration and monitoring commands and have previous UNIX and/or Linux operating system experience as applied to IP network environments.

Testing and Certification

The MSPQS Cisco training course is the recommended preparation for the 642-785 - MSPQS Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Quality of Service and is part of the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Service Provider Operations Career Certification.
