Course Overview

The Operational Foundations for Cisco Service Provider Core Networks (OFCN) instructor led training course has been designed to introduce Tier 2 and 3 personnel to the service provider network operations environment, by providing teaching on processes-orientation, management tools and methods which will enable them to practice the primary roles and tasks associated with jobs in Network Operations. The aim is to help prepare individuals for the Cisco CCNP Service Provider Operations certification exams, by providing a strong foundation which candidates can then build upon when they attend further courses within the professional level accreditation.

Course Prerequisites

Candidates attending the OFCN 642-770 Cisco training course are required to have skills and knowledge of IP networking fundamentals (ICND1 is recommended). Candidates are also required to have operations process knowledge, represented by Enhanced Telecom Operations Map (eTOM) or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) training or recommendations. Candidates should also have: troubleshooting methodology knowledge or experience as applied to IP network environments, UNIX or Linux operational system experience and have previously attended the SSPO course.

Testing and Certification

To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the professional level curriculum or any CCIE/CCDE written exam before the certification expiration date. Achieving or recertifying any of the certifications above automatically extends active Associate and Professional level certification(s) up to the point of expiration of the last certification achieved.
