What is Juniper Certified Refurbished?

Juniper Certified Refurbished is hardware returned to a fully working, fully supportable state through a controlled refurbishment process. Each unit is sourced through legitimate channels, wiped, inspected, repaired where required, re-tested against Juniper specifications, and shipped with a clean Junos build.

Crucially, "certified" is not just marketing language. It means the next owner can do what production operations actually require:

  • Run supported Junos OS releases legally.
  • Take out a Juniper Support (J-Care) contract and receive Juniper TAC assistance.
  • Buy and apply feature licences (advanced services, AppSecure, IDP signatures, and more).

Every unit ships with a warranty against hardware defect. Faults discovered in service are repaired or replaced under the same process Juniper themselves use. No "as is" small print, no 30-day catches.

Legal right to use Junos

The Junos OS that ships on the device comes with a clean, transferable right-to-use licence. That means you can run the software, upgrade it and patch it without breaching Juniper's End User Licence Agreement - the single biggest compliance risk with second-user kit.

Eligible for Juniper Support (J-Care)

Because the serial number is recognised by Juniper as certified, you can purchase a J-Care support contract against the unit. That gives you Juniper TAC access, advance hardware replacement and software entitlements - the difference between a five-minute fix and a five-day outage.

Eligible for feature licences

Need AppSecure, an IDP signature subscription, additional ports, advanced routing features or more capacity on an SRX, MX, EX or QFX? Because the unit's serial is in good standing, you can buy and apply Juniper feature licences in the normal way.

Tested and burned-in before shipment

Every device is power-cycled, soak-tested and bench-tested against the relevant Juniper test plan before it leaves us. Optical modules are validated, fans and PSUs are checked, configuration is wiped to factory defaults and a current Junos image is loaded.

Documented provenance

We record where each unit came from and we will not list kit we cannot verify. Counterfeit and clone Juniper hardware exists in the second-user market - sourcing through certified channels is how you avoid it.

Juniper Certified Refurbished - frequently asked questions

Is Juniper Certified Refurbished the same as "used" or "second user"?

No, and the difference matters commercially. Second-user Juniper kit changes hands without going through Juniper's transfer and recertification process, which is what governs whether the unit is eligible for licences and support. Certified Refurbished kit retains that eligibility.

Will the unit be eligible for a Juniper Care (J-Care) contract?

Yes. Every unit we ship as Juniper Certified Refurbished is eligible for a J-Care support contract. We can quote J-Care alongside the hardware if you want a single line item.

Can I buy feature licences for it later?

Yes. Because the serial number is in good standing, Juniper feature licences can be purchased and applied in the normal way - including AppSecure, IDP signature subscriptions, advanced routing licences and capacity upgrades on supported platforms.

What warranty do I get?

A full Juniper-backed warranty against hardware defect. We will quote the exact term on the order; for most platforms it is significantly longer than the typical second-user "DOA-only" cover that competitors offer.

How do you verify the kit is genuine?

Every unit goes through serial verification, physical inspection and a functional test against the Juniper test plan for that platform. We do not list units we cannot trace to a legitimate source.

Can you ship outside the UK?
